Our Programs

Fostering Positive Change: Empowerment and Education for Transformation
We are a non-profit organization that is committed to creating a world where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. Each program reflects our dedication to breaking down barriers, nurturing potential, and achieving our goals to foster lasting change.

Education Centers

Bareeq Education has established its pioneering Educational Center in the heart of the Nazzal area, a beacon of hope for 350 refugee K-12 children and teenagers in Jordan.

Within Jordan, a nation generously hosting around 600,000 Syrian refugees, with an additional estimated 1 million unregistered with the U.N., and tens of thousands more from various nations, the impact of violent conflicts is profound. Children bear the impact of war’s scars, both physically and emotionally, often leaving their education disrupted and their well-being compromised.

To combat these challenges head-on, our Educational Center offers tailored remedial education, art therapy, and a range of vocational courses tailored to parents, providing them with the skills and opportunities to secure employment or launch their own ventures.

Our remedial education program is a strategic initiative, helping children bridge the learning gaps caused by the disruptions, and guiding them to academic and emotional recovery. The art therapy program has emerged as a leader in providing therapeutic solace to children profoundly affected by the trauma of war and displacement.

Furthermore, our Educational Center hosts vocational courses in English, Arabic, computers, sewing, and cooking, providing a platform for parents to explore new skills and graduate as empowered individuals ready to take on life’s challenges.

University Scholarships

Believing in the potential of our children and providing hope for the future, the Bareeq University Scholarship fund offers opportunities for disadvantaged yet bright and motivated high-school graduate refugees to enroll in local universities and obtain bachelor degrees in their field of choice.

We stand as pillars of support for these high school graduates throughout the university application process. The scholarship, a manifestation of our commitment, encompasses not only the crucial funding for courses and school supplies but goes beyond, nurturing a conducive environment for growth.

Our Scholars Give Back

Bareeq University Scholarship recipients embody the spirit of giving back to their communities. In a heartfelt gesture, they dedicate a portion of their time to teaching elementary and high school Bareeq students in subjects such as Arabic, English, Reading, Writing, and Math. This pioneering initiative, spearheaded by Bareeq Education, mirrors our ethos of empowering through education.

To enable Bareeq University Scholars in this noble endeavor, we’ve established an additional fund. This fund ensures that these energetic and dedicated young teachers have the necessary teaching supplies, conducive classrooms/learning spaces, and deserved monetary compensation.

Achievements to Date

We take immense pride in our achievements to date. Currently, we sponsor and have successfully enrolled seven (7) determined young men and women in various well-known universities across Jordan. For three consecutive years, our scholarship students have been progressing with remarkable dedication.

There are 5 brilliant young women pursuing their studies in Pharmaceutical Science. They are currently in their second year and are driven by their passion to make a difference in medicine.

1 male student is pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, advancing into his second year, and aspiring to reshape the urban landscape through his acquired knowledge and skills.

Our Success Stories: Guiding Lights for Tomorrow

The true measure of our success is reflected in the achievements of our previous scholars. 2 out of 2 (100%) of them have transitioned into leading successful careers, setting shining examples for aspiring youths:

A female scholar is now contributing to the noble cause of UNICEF, employing her knowledge and dedication to create positive impacts. She not only thrived academically but received a full scholarship from UNICEF, further illustrating her competence and potential.

A male scholar successfully graduated with a degree in Business Administration, a stepping stone to a world of opportunities and challenges, showcasing the potential nurtured through our scholarship.

In the spirit of continuous development and nurturing leadership, Bareeq University Scholarships equip students not only with education but also with the commitment and passion to be leaders, making a lasting impact on society.

Seasonal Projects

Winter Clothing Assistance: Warming Hearts, Warming Lives

In the Levant region, winters can be unforgivingly cold, a fact lesser known in the Western world. The biting cold, often accompanied by snowfall, hits hard. Temperatures plummet below zero degrees, presenting a dire challenge for refugees. Most of them reside in unfinished buildings, tents, streets, or makeshift houses, braving the cold with limited resources. Blankets and proper winter clothing are a luxury they can rarely afford, leaving them exposed to the harsh elements.

Bareeq, understanding the gravity of this situation, has taken a proactive role in providing relief. We have distributed over 2,000 winter jackets to families and children in the communities we ardently serve. Through this initiative, we endeavor to bring warmth, not only in the form of clothing but also in the hearts and lives of those facing the biting winter winds.

Ramadan Iftar Baskets: Fostering Community, Fostering Unity

At Bareeq, we stand as an institution that embraces diversity – in backgrounds, religions, races, and ethnicities. Recognizing the diverse communities we serve, we honor their customs and traditions. In Ramadan, a sacred month of religious fasting, one important practice is Iftar. Iftar is the meal that breaks the fast at sunset. It’s a moment of joy and community gathering, often initiated with dates and water.

In refugee camps where resources are scarce, and a large number of individuals observe this fast, we take on the role of ensuring their nutritional needs and fostering a sense of community during this sacred time. We provide Iftar meals to children and families, promoting unity and togetherness in the community.

Bareeq’s seasonal projects epitomize our dedication to the humanitarian cause, illustrating how the non-profit sector can actively engage and manage resources to make a tangible difference in the lives of those facing challenging circumstances.

Women Empowerment

At Bareeq, we firmly believe that to shape a productive generation, empowering mothers is paramount. Understanding the critical role women play in the family structure, we’ve taken a stand to sponsor tailored courses designed for adult women, encompassing computer literacy, Arabic and English typing, English language, family education, and vital vocational skills like cooking and tailoring. Often, due to unfortunate circumstances, many refugee children can’t attend school, are compelled to work and support their families.

This can be explained by the lack of good job opportunities or the absence of a family member who can provide due to the effects of war. By equipping mothers with the means to sustain their families, Bareeq aspires to unburden these children, granting them the freedom to attend school and their mothers the ability to be self-reliant.

Regrettably, female refugees face a distressing number of abuse cases. Economic strain has pushed many daughters and female family members into forced marriages or prostitution, stripping them of their freedom and rights. We recognize this grave issue and envision a future where education and vocational training can empower women to be independent breadwinners, enabling them to break free from this vicious cycle.

Bareeq’s Women Empowerment initiative embodies our commitment to making a meaningful difference, allowing women to pursue full-time opportunities, solve challenges, and evolve as professionals. Through this initiative, we’re fostering innovation, building a team of empowered women dedicated to leadership development and making the world a better place for all.

Ofuq Youth Space

Here in Ofuq Youth Space, we aim to nurture the potential of young individuals aged 18-26. Our comprehensive programs encompass digital literacy and two dynamic leadership skills courses. Currently, we’re in the planning stages for our fourth program, “Money-Wise Youth,” focused on financial literacy.

In addition to these core programs, our dynamic initiative allows us to continually introduce new projects that resonate with the needs of our youth. Our diverse course offerings include vocational training, climate change awareness, gardening skills, coding proficiency, accessory workshops, photography classes, and educational resources such as English courses and conversation sessions.

We’re here to inspire the youth’s desire to make a meaningful impact, foster connections, and encourage collaboration.

Children’s Activities

At BAREEQ, we’re passionate about offering enriching extracurricular experiences for children. Our diverse range of activities includes eight main courses: soccer, chess, painting, media, drama, music, self-defense, and photography. We go beyond the ordinary with an additional program on mental mathematics.

We continuously update our offerings to ensure children gain valuable skills needed for their educational goals. In summer, we have fun activities like gardening, science club, thinking games, and a sports day called “tele-match.”

For students seeking academic support, we provide remedial education, covering subjects from 2nd grade to high school (Grade 12), including Arabic, English, Mathematics, Science, Physics, and Chemistry.

Our programs are designed to foster personal development, mentorship, and the application of best practices in real-world settings. We’re here to help students participate, learn, and thrive.

Disabilities

In response to a critical need in affected areas, Bareeq is launching the Nasmah Center, a dedicated facility catering to special needs children. This center is designed to accommodate and support up to 100 children simultaneously. Staffed with specialist psychologists, doctors, and education supervisors, Nasmah Center aims to be a beacon of hope and transformation for these children.

The success of the Nasmah Center is dependent on the generous donations it receives. These donations will be used for important areas such as:

Special Needs Equipment and Furniture: Including wheelchairs, physiotherapy and occupational therapy equipment, playroom padding, and soundproofing materials.

Volunteer Specialist Travel & Accommodation: Facilitating the travel and stay of the volunteers who will play an integral role in supporting and enriching the lives of these special children.

Staffing and Support: This involves recruiting support staff from the Syrian refugee community, who will be meticulously trained to provide the necessary assistance. These community members will act as a vital bridge between the children and visiting specialists.

Bareeq envisions Nasmah Center not just as a facility, but as a haven of support and opportunities. Our approach is deeply rooted in effective management, ensuring that every aspect of the center functions seamlessly to benefit these deserving children. We take pride in being a non-profit organization driven by a mission to bring positive change.

We earnestly request your involvement in this noble cause. Your contributions will leverage the potential of the Nasmah Center, making it an interactive space where these children can thrive and realize their full potential. Join us in this journey of transforming lives and fostering a more inclusive and compassionate society.
