- Northern Syria – 2 schools: 800 students enrolled (400 students in each school)
- Southern Syria (Dar’aa) – 2 schools: 500 students enrolled (250 students in each school)
Many of the schools in Northern Syria have been damaged by the war and thus, many children have been without schooling for too long. Bareeq took the initiative to create a fund to repair and reopen as many of the damaged schools as possible. Currently, we have refurbished two schools in northern Syria and each has 400 male and female Elementary and Primary students enrolled, between the ages of 5 and 13 years old, and 2 in Southern Syria, with 250 children between the ages of 5 to 13 years old currently enrolled in each. Schools are located in East and West Dar’aa. Bareeq covers all the schools’ expenses including staff salaries, school supplies, and school operating expenses as well as the cost of refurbishment
In 2015, Bareeq conducted major renovations to a war-ravaged school building within Syria and employed local teachers from the same area to teach at this school. Today, maintained by Bareeq, the school, called Souryia Al Amal (Syria’s hope) stands as a successful example of our work to create a safe and welcoming environment for children to learn and develop.
